My name is Laurie Kaczmarek, I am a young artist in the big world of ceramics.
One day, without really knowing how to explain it, she had to work with clay. The return to the essential has been vital for me in my life.
Self-taught artist, I create SAVI.
A small ceramic workshop to shape clay into unique pieces.
SAVI simply translates into clay from Finnish. Living in France but engaged to a Finn, I discovered this country and its culture through family trips to Finland.
The colours, the textures and the simplicity touched me immediately, and inspired my creations.
I love this country, the people and their values, the delicious food and the breathtaking landscapes.
My colour palette is completely inspired by the colourful hues of the country's houses. The love for design can be felt in every house and my goal is to find my place in it.
Direct inspiration from one man's legacy.
ALVAR AALTON
Born in Kuortane (Finland) in 1898, Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto is Finland's most famous architect, town planner and designer, and one of the pioneers of organic design.
Alvar Aalto drew inspiration from nature and abstraction to create his designs, using innovative techniques and natural materials.
My passion for recycling centres and ceramics is going places.
Two activities where I can spend hours that seem like seconds,
inspired my lamps, all made from recycled glass.
The recovery of chandeliers, floor lamps, wall lights and other items became
the start of the creation of my unique pieces.
A collaboration with my partner who makes the custom-made interior support for each lamp using 3D printing.
The best feeling is the final satisfaction of having transformed a raw object into a lasting lamp.
Available soon.
Once my large pieces had been cut out of the clay, lakes or lamps,
I always found myself with remnants of clay on the edges,
perfectly spread out, but ready to be balled up again.
So I decided to make my own little fetish piece, the barrettes.
Two collections immediately came to mind, one using engobes in reference to the colours of Finland, with unique, childlike designs.
The second is a collection using the superb enamels
in the Mayco 'Jungle Gems' range.
